NCGPA welcome Paddy Tipping CBE and Carol Knott as the new Non-Executive Directors on our Executive Board.

We are delighted to have Paddy and Carol as part of the NCGPA team, as their decades of experience in delivering for the people of Nottingham will be of immense value to the organisation. Sharing our values for supporting primary care and improving the resilience of general practice, we believe they will be the perfect additions to our Board.

Paddy Tipping is a well-known and highly respected figure in Nottingham. From 1992 to 2010, he served as MP for Sherwood and took up several roles as part of national government, including Deputy Leader of the House of Commons. H he used his position in parliament to speak up for the people of the city and the community he cares so deeply for.

After stepping down as an MP, he served as Nottinghamshire Police and Crime Commissioner from 2012 to 2021. As PCC, he again spoke up for the people of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, holding the police to account to ensure they served the community effectively, efficiently, and fairly. Last year, he was awarded a CBE in the King’s Birthday Honours list for his parliamentary and political services, a testament to his decades of outstanding public service.

We are delighted to have Paddy on board and his standing within the community will allow NCGPA to further strengthen ties with key decision makers throughout the city. His knowledge of how to run effective services will be invaluable to our efforts to deliver quality patient care during times of great strain for healthcare services across the country.

We are also delighted to welcome Carol Knott to the team.

Carol has in-depth knowledge of the Nottingham healthcare network, working in Board positions at Nottingham CityCare and Nottingham West CCG. Through these roles she has overseen the financial and performance oversight on numerous large-scale projects for NHS and commercial operations.

Since 2007, she has been running her own healthcare management consultancy business Windcliff Management. This venture harnesses her expertise to support healthcare start-ups and innovative projects to get off the ground and thrive.

She has a wealth of experience in operational and strategic roles within healthcare organisations of different sizes both in the UK and overseas, coming from a background in pharmacy. Carol will be vital in establishing the long-term vision for the organisation, ensuring we are continually delivering for our members and patients across the city.

Following the appointment of Joanne Dennis as CO, and Dr Manik Arora as Chair in 2024, these latest appointments to the Board show how NCGPA is evolving to meet the needs of our city and our patients.

We look forward to working with Paddy and Carol as we continue to adapt and evolve to best support our members, and ultimately create a happier, healthier Nottingham city.
